This 8”x11“ handcrafted box was crafted from locally sourced pine with a Walnut or other dark wood spline joint , incorporated glass to protect artwork and is treated with a mixture of orange oil and beeswax to preserve the wood. This box has sawtooth hangers attached on the rear of the piece for easy wall mounting. The original art within is hand painted with chalk pastel on paper which has been cut out and mounted into the box using a variety of techniques depending upon the application needed. Fantastic Mr. Fox, Winnie the Pooh, Through the Looking Glass: there seem to be countless depictions of our illustrative fixation on what is in an animal's burrow, and I am no different. Though For me, my inspiration often lies with the Runaway Bunny, one of my favorite children’s books, both when I was a child and today when reading to children. This piece, and many I have made featuring burrows beneath a tree, is an ode to those earlier imaginative and masterful depictions. Beneath the piece is a small lever that when moved, causes the rabbit to rock back and forth.
