Door Description: This 10”x24“ handcrafted box was crafted from locally sourced pine with a Walnut or other dark wood spline joint, hinging glass frame to protect artwork and is treated with a mixture of orange oil and beeswax to preserve the wood. This box has sawtooth hangers attached on the rear of the piece for easy wall mounting. The original art within is hand painted with chalk pastel on gessoed hardboard which has been cut out with a scrollsaw and mounted into the box using a variety of techniques depending upon the application needed. All materials are archival or treated to be.

“Do they Understand?” - Perhaps the most curious student I have ever worked with, one who insistently  asked questions and through that process knew more about the local flora and fauna than most bio graduate students, once held up  a vial filled with his insect specimens and asked that question. While I could only tell him I was unsure as he emptied it back onto a leaf, I am still fascinated by that query almost eight years later. As an ode to that question, and to that student, here is a Giant’s Curiosity, another piece set in a series of 10. I strongly believe in the audience’s own storytelling and imagination, and use my own visuals to give them a canvas to tell their own story. This is one such piece with that intention in mind.
